He is well educated and knows of the numerous studies that have shown the benefit of this safety device during a car crash. When I asked him why he was taking this unnecessary risk, he replied “Look, I have been driving for some 20 years without an accident. I know what I am doing. Plus, the risk of getting into a car accident is low.” In essence, accidents happen to other people.
